One of our very favorite ways to spend a pleasant day is to take a drive to an area that has antiques shops for us to browse in. Micanopy (pronounced Mick-ah-NO-pee) Florida is a self-proclaimed antiques capital of Florida. It certainly has several shops filled with antiques and collectibles along a street lined with huge oaks dripping with Spanish moss. There are plenty of unique historic buildings and homes and a couple of cafes if you get hungry.

There were two movies filmed in Micanopy: “Doc Hollywood” starring Michael J. Fox and “Cross Creek” starring Mary Steenburgen. Micanopy was recently voted
one of “The 12 Cutest Towns in America” by The Huffington Post. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
